From the recording Klezmer on the Dobro
This song has been popular for centuries and has acquired many different names along the way. One of its characteristics is that it lends itself to “Jewgrass” style (really! check the internet!), so it allows the dobro to feel right at home. To complete that
picture, I’ve included a banjo and fiddle on this song. The fiddle is played by my brother-in-law Howard Horwitz, who
actually is a classical violinist masquerading
as a Jewgrasser on this tune. For extra credit, his violin harmonizes with itself towards the end of the song.
